Day 17 of Our 22-Day Unity Challenge: Vav (ו) — The Missing Connection

Welcome to those who are joining Day 17 of our journey toward unity in the Body of Christ!

Each day, we are counting backward through the Hebrew alphabet — preparing our hearts for the global gathering of prayer and reconciliation on September 22, 2025. Today we arrive at Vav, the 6th letter, a symbol of fastening, joining, and covenant. Vav reminds us that unity is not just about passion or zeal — it is about connection. Without connection, everything falls apart.

What is Vav?

Vav (ו) carries the meaning of fastening and joining:

A Hook or Nail: In Hebrew, Vav literally means hook or nail. In the tabernacle, Vavs fastened the curtains together. Without them, the tent would collapse. The Number Six: Vav equals six, pointing us to this biblical year, 5786 — the year of divine connection, the year to restore what has been missing. A Bridge Between Heaven and Earth: Vav joins the unseen to the seen, heaven to earth, God to His people. A Covenant Bond: Vav reminds us that unity is not optional — it is the fastening that holds families, churches, and nations together.

Vav and Unity

America has passion, freedom, and strength — but without connection, it fractures. The church has zeal, truth, and structure — but without unity, it crumbles. We’ve had the parts, but not the fastening.

But 5786 is God’s call:

To fasten what has been torn. To nail together what has been broken. To bind heaven and earth, brother to brother, church to church.

Vav is God’s answer to our disconnection. Without it, the pieces scatter. With it, the Body stands strong.

Why Vav for Repentance and Redemption?

Repentance reconnects us to God: To repent (teshuvah) is literally to return — to be rejoined. Redemption fastens us to Christ: The nails (Vav) of the cross bound heaven and earth forever. Unity requires covenant bonds: Vav reminds us that costly unity is not about convenience but commitment.

Our Day 17 Challenge: Fasten What Has Been Torn

Reflect: Where am I disconnected from God or from others in the Body? Repent: Confess where pride or fear has caused distance. Reconcile: Take one concrete step to “be the Vav” — reach out, rejoin, repair, or reconcile.

Our Prayer

Lord, You are the One who holds all things together. Fasten our hearts to You and to one another. Where division has left us scattered, bind us by Your Spirit. Where brokenness has left us apart, reconnect us through Your cross. Make this the year of connection, the year of costly unity. Amen.
