We learned to see with understanding yesterday (Ayin) — now we learn to speak with wisdom.
The Hebrew letter Pey means mouth, representing the power to create, bless, and build through words.
In Hebrew design, Pey is formed from three parts: Yod, Kaf, and a hidden Bet (ב) within its shape.
The letter Bet means house or dwelling — symbolizing the inner home of our thoughts and motives.
This visual can teach us a profound truth: our mouths (Pey) are built from what is housed within us (Bet).
Every word we speak comes from an inner dwelling.
If the “house” of the heart is filled with grace, truth, and humility, our speech becomes a wellspring of life.
But if it’s filled with pride, envy, or bitterness, our words expose that too.
Jesus expressed the same truth when He said:
“For out of the overflow of the heart the mouth speaks.” — Matthew 12:34
What fills the heart will always find its way out through the mouth.
That’s why unity can never be built by words alone — it must be sustained by the inner fruit of the Spirit.
When our hearts are healed, our words heal others.
When our hearts are whole, our speech brings peace.
“The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.” — Proverbs 18:21
“Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.” — Ephesians 4:29
Community Practice
Today, bear fruit with your words.
Speak life into someone who has faced rejection or criticism. Resist the urge to defend or divide — choose to bless instead. Let your mouth become a “house of grace,” where truth and love dwell together.
Ask: What kind of house am I speaking from today — one of peace or one of pride?
Prayer / Declaration
“Lord, cleanse my heart so that my words reflect You.
Let my mouth become a vessel of Your Spirit —
a house where love, truth, and unity live.
May every sentence I speak bear the fruit of peace
and every word I plant grow into grace.”
Story
A small church once made a simple change that transformed its culture.
They created a “Speak Life Table” — a space in their fellowship hall where anyone could write short notes of encouragement, gratitude, or prayer for others in the congregation. Each Sunday, the table filled with handwritten reminders of kindness: “You prayed for me last year, and God answered.” “I saw you serve quietly when no one else noticed.” “You’ve made this church feel like home.”
Over time, something extraordinary happened. The tone of conversation shifted.
Gossip lost its place. Complaining dried up.
The language of life became the rhythm of the house.
That’s the spirit of Pey — a community whose mouth speaks from a healed and thankful heart.
It’s the Church becoming fluent in the language of love.
Insight
Pey continues the Bearing Fruit phase of the Unity Journey.
After seeing rightly through Ayin, we now speak rightly through Pey.
Our words are the harvest of our hearts — they reveal what’s been growing within us all along.
When we speak life, we don’t just change the atmosphere — we change each other.
And when the Church learns to speak like Christ, the world begins to listen.
