Welcome to Day 2 of our 22-day journey toward unity in the Body of Christ! From now until September 22, 2025, we’re counting backward through the Hebrew alphabet — preparing our hearts for a global gathering of prayer and reconciliation.
Yesterday, Tav (ת) reminded us we are marked by the Cross. Today, Shin (ש) calls us to be refined by the fire of God’s presence.
What is Shin?
Shin (ש), the 21st Hebrew letter, is shaped like three flames rising upward. It symbolizes fire, divine presence, and transformation. In Scripture, fire often represents God’s glory:
• “Mount Sinai was covered with smoke, because the Lord descended on it in fire” (Exod. 19:18).
• “They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire… all of them were filled with the Holy Spirit” (Acts 2:3–4).
Shin reminds us: unity isn’t just agreement — it’s allowing God’s fire to purify our hearts and empower our witness.
Why Focus on Fire?
At Pentecost, the Spirit’s fire turned fearful disciples into bold witnesses. Fire exposes what is false, burns away pride, and makes room for God’s power. If Tav seals us with the Cross, Shin shapes us with the Spirit. Together, they prepare us as a living altar for the King.
When we invite God’s fire, we’re asking Him to burn away division, bitterness, and selfish ambition — so that what remains is pure love, courage, and unity.
Our Day 2 Challenge: Invite the Fire of the Spirit
• Reflect: Ask God to show you anything in your heart that divides you from others — pride, judgment, fear, or unforgiveness.
• Surrender: Pray for God’s refining fire to burn away these barriers, just as gold is refined in the furnace.
• Empower: Share a bold prayer, testimony, or act of love with someone today. Let God’s Spirit shine through you, not your own strength.
Our Prayer
Lord Jesus, send Your refining fire into my heart. Burn away pride, fear, and anything that divides me from others. Fill me with Your Spirit, that I may live with courage, love, and unity. May Shin remind me that I am not my own — I am Yours, shaped by Your fire. Amen.
