Today we reach the end of our countdown, and yet, in God’s story, this is only the beginning. Aleph (א), the first letter of the Hebrew alphabet, brings us full circle. It is silent, humble, and unseen — yet it holds the breath of God, the Alpha, the spark of creation itself.
Aleph is made of two Yods joined by a Vav: heaven above, earth below, and the divine connection between them. It is the picture of oneness — God uniting what is divided, binding what was torn apart, and filling what was empty with His presence.
For 22 days we have been walking backward through the alphabet — from Tav to Aleph. This reverse journey has not been random; it has been a return. Each letter was a chisel, carving away pride, bitterness, and fear, preparing us for the King. Like the prodigal son, we have been tracing our steps home, and now we stand at the door, ready to be embraced.
Why Aleph Matters for Repentance and Unity
The Silent Beginning: Aleph has no sound of its own, teaching us that true repentance begins not with our words but with God’s. We fall silent so His Spirit can speak.
The Unity of All Things: Heaven and earth, Jew and Gentile, brother and sister — Aleph shows us God’s desire to bring all things together under Christ.
A New Beginning: Aleph is the letter of Genesis, the start of a new creation.
On this final day of Elul, just hours before the Feast of Trumpets, Aleph calls us to begin again — not scattered, but united.
Looking Back, Preparing Forward
Over the past 21 days we have passed through letters that shaped us:
We bowed in humility (Kaf). We lifted our hands in small but faithful deeds (Yod). We cut away bitterness and fought for unity (Zayin). We prepared the house for God’s presence (Bet). We walked through the doorway of humility (Dalet).
Each step was a stage of repentance. Each letter a reminder that God is not finished with us. And now, at Aleph, we are invited into the only beginning that matters — God dwelling with His people in unity.
Our Day 22 Challenge: Begin Again in Oneness
Reflect: What is God asking me to leave behind as the trumpet sounds?
Repent: Sit in silence before Him, letting His Spirit speak where my words cannot.
Reconcile: Take one step toward unity — a call, a prayer, a gesture of forgiveness.
Our Prayer
Lord, You are the Aleph and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. As we stand on the edge of a new year, bind us together by Your Spirit. Make us Your dwelling place. Fill us with Your fire. Let our unity be the sign that You are with us, and let the world see Your glory through Your people. Amen.
Today Is the Day
This is not the end of a challenge. It is the beginning of a movement.
At 11:30am EST today, September 22, 2025, we gather across nations for the global day of prayer. Together, we will lift our voices, humble our hearts, and prepare for the trumpet to sound at sundown in Jerusalem.

Aleph reminds us: the countdown is complete, the door is open, the King is coming.
Let us be found ready, united, and filled with His Spirit.
