Day 6 — Vav (ו): Healing the Missing Six

Yesterday with Hey (ה), we completed the first group of letters — the Foundations of Unity (Days 1–5). We learned to root our lives in God’s breath and grace, discovering that unity begins when we are anchored in Him.

Now, with Vav (ו), we step into the second movement of our journey: Healing Divides (Days 6–9). These letters invite us to repair what is broken, forgive what has been strained, and reconnect with those who have been overlooked.

Vav means “hook” or “connector.” In the Scriptures, Vavs held together the curtains of the tabernacle (Exodus 26:11), reminding us that unity is not just inward but relational. It binds one person to another, one story to another, one life to another.

But Vav also calls our attention to the “missing six” — the people who pass through our lives yet remain disconnected, lacking the solid foundation of loving God with all their heart, soul, and strength (Deuteronomy 6:5). Unity is incomplete if we ignore them. True healing begins when we draw in the missing, listen to their stories, and invite them into the love of God.

“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.” — Deuteronomy 6:5

“The stranger who resides with you shall be to you as the native among you, and you shall love him as yourself.” — Leviticus 19:34

Reflection

The first five letters laid our foundation. Now Vav stretches us outward — to become connectors, not only to God but to one another, especially to those who feel like outsiders. Healing begins when we notice the “missing six” in our community — the ones easily forgotten, drifting, or wounded.

Community Practice

Today, take a step of healing connection:

Invite someone you normally pass by — a coworker, neighbor, or even a family member — into a conversation or meal. Listen more than you speak. Offer one act of blessing, whether a prayer, encouragement, or practical help.

Prayer/Declaration

“Lord, make us connectors of Your unity. Help us see the missing ones around us, and give us courage to heal divides through listening, forgiving, and blessing.”

Story

A church once set aside “Connection Sundays” — weeks dedicated not to their regular members, but to strangers. They welcomed new people to meals, listened to their stories, and prayed blessings over them. Many of those “outsiders” became core members, because someone was willing to be the hook that drew them in.

Vav marks our shift from foundations to healing. It reminds us that unity is more than being rooted in God ourselves — it is extending that root outward to the missing, the hurting, and the overlooked, until they too are joined into the family of God.
