Welcome to Day 6 of our journey toward unity in the Body of Christ! Each day, we are counting backward through the Hebrew alphabet \u2014 preparing our hearts for the global gathering of prayer and reconciliation on September 22, 2025. Today we arrive at Pe, the 17th letter, a symbol of the mouth, speech, and the power of words.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What is Pe?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pe (\u05e4) literally means \u201cmouth.\u201d It represents our capacity to speak \u2014 to bless or to curse, to build or to destroy. Scripture tells us plainly:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n

\u201cLife and death are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit.\u201d (Proverbs 18:21)<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Our words carry divine weight. Speech is not common \u2014 it is a miracle, as precious as gold. With it we declare destiny, activate faith, and call forth life. But left unchecked, speech can distort, manipulate, and divide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Word of God itself is described as \u201cliving and active, sharper than any double-edged sword, penetrating even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow\u201d (Hebrews 4:12). So too our words have a double edge: they can cut to reconcile or to sever.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Why Focus on Speech for Unity?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Unity begins in the way we speak to and about one another. When we tame our tongues, we allow God to use our mouths as instruments of peace and healing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In personal life: Governing our speech teaches us self-control and reverence. In community: Words can either ignite gossip and division or strengthen covenant bonds. In mission: Spirit-led speech proclaims the gospel, releasing destiny and reconciliation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pe reminds us that unity will not come through silence, but through consecrated speech \u2014 words that are Spirit-breathed, truth-filled, and life-giving.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Living Example<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yesterday, I had to face this head-on. In the middle of Day 5\u2019s focus on righteousness, my tongue slipped. I used a phrase that landed far harsher than I ever intended due to cultural and language differences. It sparked a heated argument.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But God wouldn\u2019t let me leave it there. I felt some hurt but also caused more hurt in my reaction. I humbled myself, apologized, and made peace. We talked it out. It wasn\u2019t easy. Damage was done. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

That\u2019s the real work of Pe: not pretending our words never fail, but choosing humility when they do. And here\u2019s the part that struck me \u2014 Pe is the 17th letter, and 17 has always been my favorite number. Yet, my tongue (also my weakness) is often where I stumble most. Isn\u2019t that just like God? He takes our sharpest weaknesses and turns them into the very places where His Spirit shapes unity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Imagine if all of us in the Body of Christ learned to reconcile this way \u2014 quickly, humbly, and consistently. The mission of God would move forward without being bogged down by bitterness or division.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our Day 6 Challenge: Govern Your Tongue<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Reflect: Where have your words caused harm or division? Write them down and bring them before God. Repent: Ask forgiveness from God and, if needed, from others. Commit to speak words that build up, not tear down. Reconcile: Intentionally use your words today to encourage, bless, or speak life into someone who needs it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our Prayer<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lord, You are the Living Word, and by Your Spirit You breathe life into us. Forgive us for careless, divisive, or manipulative speech. Consecrate our mouths so that our words bring healing, not harm. Teach us to speak destiny, to call forth life, and to reconcile through the power of our tongue. May our united voices declare Your glory until the whole earth is filled with Your praise. Amen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
