The third letter of the Hebrew alphabet, Gimmel (\u05d2), is shaped like a person walking. In Jewish tradition, it has long been associated with generosity \u2014 the one who moves toward another to give. For us as followers of Christ, it points to the way Jesus walked among us: full of grace and truth (John 1:14).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Aleph showed us the oneness of God.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bet taught us to build houses of peace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now Gimmel calls us to walk as Christ walked, lifting Him up as our example to imitate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n

\u201cFollow God\u2019s example, therefore, as dearly loved children and walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us and gave Himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.\u201d \u2014 Ephesians 5:1\u20132<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBe imitators of me, as I am of Christ.\u201d \u2014 1 Corinthians 11:1<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Reflection<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Unity grows when we choose to move toward one another in grace. Like Gimmel\u2019s walking form, we are not called to stand still but to take steps of generosity and reconciliation. Christ\u2019s footsteps mark the path before us. Our identity is built not only on knowing who we are in Him, but on imitating His selfless way of living.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Community Practice<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Today, take one intentional step of generosity:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Give time to listen deeply to someone. Offer forgiveness that you\u2019ve been withholding. Share a meal or resource with someone in need. Encourage a brother or sister by naming the Christlike qualities you see in them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Each step of grace builds a road toward unity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prayer\/Declaration<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cJesus, You walked among us with humility, compassion, and sacrifice. Teach us to walk in Your steps \u2014 to be generous in love, rich in mercy, and ready to forgive. May our lives lift You up as our example and our peace.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Story<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In one community, a leader decided to imitate Christ by serving rather than speaking at a gathering. Instead of teaching, he quietly washed the feet of each member \u2014 echoing Jesus\u2019 example in John 13. That act broke down pride and melted resistance, reminding everyone that true leadership looks like service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gimmel reminds us that our unity depends on movement \u2014 walking as Christ walked, choosing generosity over selfishness, and lifting Him up as the pattern for our lives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
